  • 2 ripe bananas sliced
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream for topping

Method
 

  1. Prepare your graham cracker crust if making homemade; set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, flour, and a pinch of salt over medium heat until thickened (about 5 minutes). Stir in butter and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Slice bananas into thin rounds.
  4. In the prepared crust, layer half of the custard, followed by half of the banana slices; repeat with remaining custard and banana slices.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.
  6. Before serving, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form and generously spread over the pie.
